The Old Depot Auction Company in Walterboro held a large farming auction on Saturday, drawing a crowd of more than 300 shoppers.

The auction company, commonly called ODAC, put hundreds of farming items on the auction block on March 27th for members of the public to try to purchase via bid.

The items for sale included tractors, both modern and antique, and implements, such as bush hogs and portable water tanks.

There were also non-farming items on the auction block, such as fire pits and wooden rockers.

According to Colleton residents Willie Taylor and Warren Stanford, the day brought people together for “Joking and hanging out.” Taylor and Stanford, who are friends, said they could only browse on Saturday because “Taylor’s wife took his credit cards,” they said, with a laugh.

In all, more than 300 people attended the event.

The local business works with private sellers from across the state to sell items at their auctions. Equipment, estate items and antiques are often sold at the Walterboro-based company.

The next auction at the Old Depot Auction Company is scheduled for April 17th at 9 a.m. Specific items listed for sale have not yet been published. More information on this auction can be found on the business’ Web site, at www.odacauctions.com.
