A Lehigh Valley native famous for her YouTube channels is in hot water for selling a video of herself as a toddler on the site OnlyFans.
Gabi DeMartino, a 2014 graduate of Notre Dame High School, has a YouTube channel called “Fancy Vlogs by Gab” with 3.23 million subscribers. She and her sister, Niki, host the YouTube channel, “Niki and Gabi,” as well.
Gabi DeMartino recently uploaded a video captioned “wont put my panties on” and sold it for $3 on OnlyFans, a subscription site where fans pay for access to videos and photos.
Vulture reported the video of DeMartino as a 3-year-old toddler showed her lifting up her skirt. Fans and critics said the move was akin to distributing child pornography.
The 25-year-old DeMartino later took down the video and her OnlyFans account was suspended: BuzzFeed reported the company said the account was deactivated “in violation of OnlyFans’ Terms of Service.”
DeMartino first addressed the criticism on Twitter, saying it was a childhood video of her being asked what her grandmother is saying, and that she responded her grandmother “says put your panties back on.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t think that one through. period. a home-video i love to share w my friends & i use my (OnlyFans) as a “finsta” page where i share stuff as i would w friends,” she tweeted.
A finsta describes a second, “fake” Instagram account. Instagram users can have a “real” account with curated photos and videos open to the public, whereas a “finsta” will have more personal and/or candid photos and videos only visible to a smaller group of followers.
DeMartino then tweeted the video was “a goofy throwback family moment” and she took it off the platform.
“I am sorry that this wasn’t thought out completely I apologize. The video is down now I am sorry again if this came out wrong,” she wrote.
Two days later, DeMartino posted a video on YouTube called “This needs to be addressed,” where she describes what led her to post the video and repeatedly apologizes for her actions.
In the video, DeMartino says “my lack of judgment and poor decisions have led to a very, very serious issue that needs to be addressed.”
She was looking for new content and was watching home videos with her family when she saw the video she eventually shared.
The video’s caption, “what I thought was a funny caption. It’s not funny,” was a quote from the video, DeMartino says.
“Never in a million years did I think something that I thought was so innocent could be looked at in such an ugly way, and I think that’s where the problem lies. I realized I am so dis-attached with reality that it didn’t even cross my mind that this could be viewed like this,” DeMartino says. “It’s a serious issue. It’s not funny, it will never be funny, and it’s not ok and I’m really sorry. I’m sorry to my friends, my fans, my family, to anyone that I’ve hurt. I’m so truly sorry.”
DeMartino called it a “stupid, thoughtless action” and said “I’m going to grow and learn from this, and I will come out of this a better person, and I will do better. This was really wrong.”
The video had 441,290 views as of early Saturday afternoon.
Before the apology video, the most recent video on ”Fancy Vlogs” was posted on Black Friday and called “BUYING MYSELF 24 GIFTS IN 24 HOURS *overnight challenge*.”
The “unboxing challenge” followed DeMartino as she opened a gift every hour for 24 hours. It had 311,266 views as of Saturday.
DeMartino is recording an album, and performed via livestream during this year’s Musikfest as a fundraiser for ArtsQuest.
