MyPillow Petition Urging Amazon, Walmart to Stop Selling Products Hits 60,000 Signatures - Newsweek

Tens of thousands of people have signed a petition demanding more major retailers stop selling MyPillow products due to CEO Mike Lindell's continuing support of Donald Trump.

Lindell had previously been criticized for continually pushing Trump's baseless claims of widespread voter fraud in the election.

He also appears to have backed the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6 and was photographed holding a note before a meeting with Trump following the attack that seemed to advocate the imposition of martial law.

A Change.org petition is now calling for some of the world's largest retailer chains, including Amazon, Walmart and Costco, to remove all MyPillow products from sale.

"Today 01/15/2021 the MyPillow founder met with President Trump and suggested instituting martial law after the twice impeached president staged a coup," a description on the petition page reads.

"Time to tell our major retailers to stop selling his products. We will not support funding insurrectionists!"

The petition managed to gain more than 61,000 signatures since it was set up last week.

The petition also urges that Bed Bath & Beyond also cuts ties with MyPillow, which the company already has done.

However, Bed Bath & Beyond previously told Newsweek that MyPillow products were being removed from its stores due to lack of demand, rather than Lindell's actions.

"We have been rationalizing our assortment to discontinue a number of underperforming items and brands. This includes the MyPillow product line. Our decisions are data-driven, customer-inspired and are delivering substantial growth in our key destination categories," a spokesperson added.

Kohl's also said they are removing MyPillow products from sale due to decreased customer demand.

Costco said it plans to continue to sell MyPillow products, telling the San Francisco Chronicle last week that the company has a "contractual commitments to MyPillow that we intend to honor, as we seek to do with all of our suppliers."

Following his meeting with Trump after the deadly siege on the Capitol, activist group Sleeping Giants tweeted at Walmart, Amazon, Lowes and Bed Bath & Beyond to ask whether they will still sell MyPillow products while sharing a video of Lindell insisting Trump will remain president for four more years and continuing to push falsehoods about him winning the election.

The video is believed to have been filmed in the wake of the January 6 attack in Washington D.C.

"This is the only time we have in history to beat these guys, to suppress the evil and beat the evil," Lindell says in the video first uploaded to Parler. "It's a blessing this time we're in where on election night Donald Trump got so many votes that he actually broke the algorithms of the machines.

"This is a fight for everything we've grown up with, everything we live for, everything this country stands for. The whole world is watching and, 100 percent, Donald Trump is going to be your president for the next four years."

Walmart and Amazon have been contacted for comment.
