With most states focused on reopening, proposals for a potential second round of stimulus checks remains a high priority for citizens and lawmakers.
According to a recent Forbes.com report, at least three proposals on the next round of stimulus in response to the coronavirus pandemic are currently on the table.
Detailed discussions on each won’t be available to all stakeholders until July.
However, a positive downturn in unemployment rates in May and, perhaps, another drop in June, will likely determine which form of stimulus is chosen, according to Forbes.com.
The primary HEROES Act would again distribute $1,200 payments per person.
Roughly eight out of 10 Americans would receive checks, meaning single filers with taxable income under $75,000 ($150,000 for joint filers) would be eligible.
Dependents also would qualify for $1,200.
Ways and Means Republican Leader Kevin Brady of Texas introduced his “Reopening America by Supporting Workers and Businesses Act of 2020,” targeting Main Street businesses by turning unemployment benefits into a back-to-work bonus.
Also a payment of $1,200 – one week of unemployment benefits and $600 federal aid -- Brady’s proposal aims to incentivize Americans. The additional federal payment is set to expire on July 31.
In addition, former presidential candidates, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and Andrew Yang, have championed a monthly stimulus payment for the remainder of the pandemic.

The Monthly Economic Crisis Support Act would give $2,000 to anyone earning up to $120,000 per year. Married couples who file jointly would receive up to $4,000.
A maximum of three dependents would get $2,000 each. This would apply to every U.S. resident regardless if they file taxes or have a Social Security number.
Yang’s “Freedom Dividend” proposes a $1,000 payment for life.
While modifications and new proposals could emerge in the coming weeks, it’s important to note that the initial round of stimulus checks is not complete.
Those who have not yet received the first check can visit the IRS payment website.
