GLADWIN, MI — Police have arrested three people accused of selling crystal methamphetamine from a Gladwin hotel.
The Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team, or BAYANET, received word from the Gladwin Police Department of people from the Grand Rapids area selling large amounts of meth from a hotel. Detectives on July 14 began surveillance and developed probable cause to obtain search warrants for a hotel room and for a house, according to Michigan State Police Special 1st Lt. David Kaiser.
On July 15, BAYANET, Gladwin police, and the Michigan State Police’s Third District Emergency Support Team executed the two warrants. They arrested their main suspect, a 31-year-old man from Hastings, in the hotel’s parking lot after allegedly sold some meth to a 39-year-old man from the Gladwin area.
The man suspected of buying the meth threw a bag containing 4 ounces (or 110 grams) from a vehicle’s window and was stopped by police, Kaiser said.
A search of the hotel room resulted in police seizing 19 ounces (or 560 grams) of meth and $3,200 in cash. Police also arrested a 40-year-old Gladwin woman during the endeavor.
All three suspects were lodged in the Gladwin County Jail on charges of possessing crystal meth with intent to distribute. Their names are being withheld pending arraignment in court.
