An Acadiana woman is fed up with the IRS after she says she has not received her stimulus check.
The first wave of payments began being issued in mid-April. Now, with the talks of a second stimulus payment, some are asking what should they do if they still have not received the first round.
"I think the IRS needs to get it together. A kindergartner could do their bookkeeping better than they are," said Mary Curtius of Ville Platte.
She has been waiting four months for her stimulus payment.
Curtius said, "At first they said they issued us a paper check, but then when I called back two weeks later, they said oh no, it's a MetaBank card."
Curtius says the prepaid card was mailed on May 22, but it was sent to the wrong address. She says she was then promised a paper check by mid-August, but she's yet to get it.
KATC reached out to Senators Cassidy and Kennedy. Cassidy's office directed those with concerns to call constituent services.
KATC also reached out to the IRS, which could only direct us to their frequently asked questions section on their website.
For Curtius, the wait continues.
"Some of those people are worse off than me. The IRS needs to step up to the plate," Curtius said.
Senator Cassidy's office said, "Any constituent who is having issues with a federal agency can contact their nearest state office to speak with a caseworker." The Lafayette office can be reached at 337-261-1400.
