Alabama Power is launching a new payment plan as it readies for a return to standard business operations.
The utility has suspended service disconnects during the coronavirus pandemic but will restart normal business operations – including disconnects and late fees related to nonpayment– on Sept. 28. To fill the gap, Alabama Power is launching a new payment plan that allows customers to spread out energy bill balances over several months.
To enroll, customers can visit AlabamaPower.com/PaymentPlan or use the automated system at 1-800-245-2244 to check eligibility and set up a payment plan. Alabama Power officials said they will also continue to work individually with customers on resources for payment assistance.
Also, customers can expect to receive a $25 credit on October bills due to lower fuel expenses. Credits will depend on energy use and could vary.
Walk-in services resume
Walk-in services at Alabama Power businesses offices and Appliance Centers will also restart on Sept. 28. Customers are asked to comply with signs in the offices to ensure CDC guidelines are followed and limited customer capacity will be allowed in each office. Customers are also encouraged to use 24/7 payment kiosks, drop boxes and drive-thru operations where available or conduct business through digital options or by phone via AlabamaPower.com/MyPayment or the automated system at 1-800-245-2244, or pay through Bill Matrix at 1-800-835-2702.
Customers can also use Authorized Payment Locations, including grocery stores, drug stores and banks, where bills can be paid with cash. Customers are encouraged to find the location most convenient to them at AlabamaPower.com/PayinPerson.
