Susan Mendik selling $9M townhouse late husband Bernard built - New York Post

Susan Mendik, the widow of the late real estate developer Bernard Mendik, a powerful former chairman of the Real Estate Board of New York, is selling the townhouse her late hubby built.

The stately home, at 207 E. 71st St., is on the market for $8.97 million.

Bernard Mendik, who passed in 2001, was known for having the ear of then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Mendik, for example, helped block a city zoning initiative to cap the height of city skyscrapers, paving the way for President Trump to build Trump World Tower near the UN, where Derek Jeter once occupied the grand penthouse.

In 2009, Susan Mendik married real estate developer and investor Moe Tarkinow.

The Mendiks’ 25-foot-wide townhouse comes with six bedrooms and 5½ bathrooms.

Built in 1982, the home comes with its own elevator, a wood-paneled library, an art deco-style wet bar, a home office and a living room with a double-height ceiling and limestone fireplace overlooking a garden.

There’s also an eat-in chef’s kitchen with a butler’s pantry, a formal dining room, a private terrace and an additional 2,500-square-foot duplex from an adjacent townhouse that has already been combined.

Listing broker Arlene S. Reed, of Warburg Realty, declined to comment.
