KALAMAZOO, MI — A woman and three children were selling candy near a sidewalk when shots were fired at a house across the street on Sunday afternoon in Kalamazoo.
Kalamazoo Public Safety officers responded to the scene, at the intersection of S. Burdick and E. Maple streets, at about 2:15 p.m. Aug. 16 on a report of several shots fired.
Nobody was injured in the shooting, a news release from the department states.
According to the release, several witnesses reported that two suspects had fired handguns at a house near the intersection. The suspects then left in two separate vehicles, officers said.
Officers then flooded the area in search of the suspect vehicles. The vehicles, described as a silver Chrysler 300 and a red Dodge Charger with black racing stripes on the hood, were not located.
No suspects have been identified and the motive for the shooting is unknown, according to police.
The house that is believed to have been the target of the shooting had already been struck by gunfire less than one month ago.
In addition to the woman and children selling candy, several other vehicles and pedestrians were also in the area and witnessed the shooting, police said.
