NORWALK — Police busted several retail shops for selling vape or nicotine products to minors, according to a news release.
Officials said the department received numerous reports from parents regarding the sales of vape and nicotine products to their children. Officers collaborated with cooperating minors to conduct compliance checks at several locations on Wednesday, police said.
Police found the following locations lacked compliance and fined each.
Two employees at Vapewise — a vape shop located at 203 Liberty Square — was fined $200, $350 and $500 for selling or delivering electronic nicotine to a minor, officials said.
Officers also fined The Mohegan Smoke Shop — located at 82-84 North Main Street in Norwalk — and Citgo Gas Station on East Avenue $200 for the sale or delivery of electronic nicotine to a minor, according to the release.
Police said the department will continue doing compliance checks in the new year as part of the ongoing investigation.
