With fall in full swing, home gardeners often find themselves in a frenzy trying to clear leaves from their lawns and rain gutters. But with so many leaf blowers on the market and cities and states regulating different kinds of leaf blowers because of air and noise pollution, it can be hard to know which one will get the job done efficiently and in an environmentally friendly manner. Will Hudson, senior merchant at The Home Depot, says depending on the frequency and type of objects a consumer is trying to move, power, battery run time and mobility are the most critical factors to compare. “The best leaf blowers have high CFM and MPH ratings that allow you to clear a large area in less time. CFM is the cubic feet per minute of air volume generated by the fans, so the higher the CFM, the more leaves and grass you’ll be able to blow at once. MPH is the air speed measured in miles per hour and the higher your MPH, the further the distance it can push debris,” says Hudson. According to The Home Depot and gardening experts, these are the best selling and most effective leaf blowers:
The affordable bestseller: Ryobi ONE+ 18V 100MPH 280 CFM Cordless Battery Variable Speed Jet Fan Leaf Blower, $99 at The Home Depot
