Prospect of increasing sales over the winter
Roseville, Calif.- Although winter is typically a slow time for home sales, I believe this year will be different. Recovering from the pandemic there is a pent-up demand for housing and low inventory of available listing.
“Compared to other past winter seasons, this winter season’s sales activity will be stronger,” agrees Lawrence Yun, chief economist at the National Association of Realtors. “This winter, there will be more sales compared to pre-pandemic winters going back all the way to 2006.”
Inventory
The prospect of increasing sales over the winter is clearly caused by the COVID 19 pandemic which created a large demand for homes and overwhelmed the spring selling season and is spilling over to winter. In addition, the inventory of available listing which has been slowly growing from earlier in the year has dropped dramatically.
In past winters, sellers scrambled to find buyers. With the number of buyers currently in the market this will not be the case this year.
