How does $2,000 a month until the coronavirus goes away sound?

Chances are you’ve probably heard by now that the idea has been pitched to give Americans the monthly payment to stimulate the economy and get through the pandemic.

It’s an idea that’s not only not going away, but is continuing to gain traction. And, according to a Friday Fox Business story, it’s even gaining a little steam.

Democratic Sens. Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders and Ed Markey have now released the “Monthly Economic Support Act.” The story says their proposal is similar to a mid-April House bill, and would send $2,000 payments to Americans earning less than $120,00 per year. Married couples would get $4,000 a month and an extra $2,000 per child.

Fox reported the plan would be retroactive to March and payments would continue until three months after the Health and Human Services Department “has declared the public health emergency over.”

And the money would come free of debt obligations, the report set, as debtors would be barred from collecting it.
