Many Americans are frustrated.
While Republican and Democratic leaders try to come to an agreement on what a second coronavirus stimulus package will look like, many folks still haven’t received their stimulus payment from the original plan.
The IRS issued new guidance Tuesday for those who haven’t received their $500 per child stimulus payment.
The agency previously asked people who are not required to file a tax return to use its tool, called the “Non-filers: Enter Payment Info Here tool,” to provide information about any children who were 16 or under.
Now the IRS says it will IRS will automatically issue the additional $500 payment per qualifying child to those who used the Non-Filers tool before May 17.
“Direct deposit payments are scheduled for August 5, 2020, and paper checks or debit cards are scheduled to be mailed August 7, 2020,” the IRS said. “You can use Get My Payment to check the status of the $500 EIP per qualifying child, and you will receive another notice in the mail letting you know the $500 EIP per qualifying child was issued.”
The IRS said you will get your payment in the same way you received your $1,200 or $2,400 payment — either by direct deposit, paper check or debit card.
And what about those who haven’t received any stimulus payment yet? That’s unclear.
The IRS said if you used the Non-Filers tool on or after May 17, your stimulus payment would include your $500 qualifying child payment. But it wasn’t clear about whether all people who have used the tool will get their payments this week.
