Former NHL All-Star Martin St. Louis is close to a big score. The now-retired right wing listed his massive mansion in Riverside, CT, for $16 million a couple of weeks ago, and already has an offer in — the home is in contingent sale status.
Located at the very tip of a peninsula jutting out into Long Island Sound, St. Louis’ property spans 1.31 waterfront acres. The neighborhood is gated, and this mansion sits at the end of a cul-de-sac, for extreme privacy and security.
St. Louis’ wife, Heather, hails from the area, and the couple snagged the property back in 2012 for $6.2 million, while St. Louis was starring for the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The custom-built coastal estate with awe-inspiring views offers five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms on 7,258 square feet, with water vistas visible from most every room.
Inside, a large chef’s kitchen offers a butler’s pantry, double ovens, and a gas stovetop. Next to the kitchen, a mudroom offers several custom built-in lockers with plenty of cabinet space for jackets and winter boots.
High-end finishes throughout include oak floors, high ceilings, and marble-clad fireplaces.
The serene outdoor living space, with a large wraparound porch, is perfect for entertaining family and guests or simply for basking in the tranquil bay views.
The master suite has a cozy fireplace, as well as a deluxe bathroom with walk-in shower and sauna. Both the master bedroom and bathroom have views of the Sound and the New York skyline in the distance.
Accordion doors in the family room lead out to a terrace and the wraparound porch, creating a breezy indoor-outdoor feel. On the top floor, you’ll find an office, bonus room, playroom, and a sleeping porch screened in with a cozy fireplace.
The estate also has a three-car garage, a private kayak area with rights to the beach, and a dock. Old Greenwich is less than 3 miles away, with plenty of boutique shops and local restaurants to choose from.
A native of Quebec, St. Louis began his NHL career in 1998 with the Calgary Flames and was one of the smallest players in the league, at 5-foot-8. He played over a thousand games and scored 1,000 points, and was named an All-Star five times. He retired after the 2014-15 season and was elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018.
It appears that the couple are downsizing. They recently purchased a much more modest home in a country club community in Wesley Chapel, FL, for $615,000.
Jennifer Allen with Compass has the listing.
