Five hundred residential properties changed hands from July 1 to Sept. 30 in the Central Dauphin School District, a 16 percent increase from the same period in 2019.

The average price for a residential property in the Cumberland Valley School District during that time was $339,063, an increase of almost 12 percent.

And in the East Pennsboro School District, houses sold in an average of just 16 days — 20 fewer days than in third quarter of 2019.

The numbers tell a story that area realtors have been telling for months: That the real estate market in central Pennsylvania is sizzling due to a limited supply of homes, particularly homes under $300,000.

Here’s a look at the statistics recently released by the Greater Harrisburg Association of Realtors, in conjunction with Bright MLS. The statistics look at the number of properties sold in each of 23 central Pennsylvania school districts, the average sale prices, the average amount of time homes were on the market before selling, and how all those numbers compare to the third quarter of 2019.
