FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) -- The intersection of South Calhoun and Williams Streets, on the southern fringe of downtown, is almost never associated with high-end living.
But three renovated townhomes at that location are now listed for sale with an asking price of $1.2 million a piece.
The project has been dubbed The Gathering Townhomes.
It can be found in an abandoned brick building dating back to the early 1900's that had slipped into disrepair.
Developers kept the original building, but fully updated it with a new modern look, producing three distinct townhomes.
The original brick was preserved, and there are luxury finishes throughout, including quartz countertops, custom cabinetry, and dry bars.
Each unit has private deck space and rooftop access via an outdoor spiral staircase, leading to an area with an excellent view of downtown, especially on nights where there are fireworks displays happening in the core of the city.
Tyler Secrist, a real estate broker, has been heavily involved in the project from the beginning.
"Traveling a bit to other major cities closeby, in Chicago there are industrial buildings getting re-modeled into high-end living. We wanted to piggyback on that, so yeah, I had a lot of inspiration and we were able to emulate some of these designs and some of those things into these units," Secrist said.
Mayor Tom Henry says this kind of undertaking illustrates even further the amazing transformation going on in the downtown area.
"I've had several meetings lately with people who have come into town either for the first time, or have come back after a number of years of being absent, and it's just phenomenal the comments and compliments we're getting, so it's no wonder that more and more people want to call Fort Wayne home and they're willing to pay a price to be here," Henry said.
