Benefits are sent out every other day during the distribution period every month to recipients based on the last digit of their Social Security number in numerical order. For those with a Social Security number ending in 1, they receive the benefits on the 3rd, and that pattern continues through the 23rd. For those with a Social Security number ending in 9, benefits are issued on the 19th, and for those with a Social Security number ending in 0, benefits are issued on the 21st.

The amount a beneficiary receives depends on an individual's income and household size. For a household of one person, the maximum benefit is $281, whereas, for a household of five, the maximum monthly benefit is $1,116.
